Chủ đề Teachers (Giáo viên) là một trong những topic vô cùng quen thuộc và mang nhiều cảm xúc nhất trong bài thi IELTS Speaking. Tuy nhiên, sự quen thuộc đôi khi lại là một “cái bẫy” khiến thí sinh dễ sa đà vào việc kể lể dài dòng với những từ vựng quá phổ thông như “good”, “kind” hay “teach well”.

Làm thế nào để miêu tả người thầy/cô của mình một cách chân thực, truyền cảm hứng mà vẫn đáp ứng trọn vẹn các tiêu chí chấm điểm khắt khe của giám khảo? Từ vựng & Cấu trúc “ăn điểm” cho chủ đề Teachers

Để bài nói có chiều sâu, bạn cần phân loại từ vựng thành các nhóm: Phẩm chất cá nhân, phương pháp sư phạm và tầm ảnh hưởng. Việc sử dụng các cụm từ (collocations) chính xác sẽ giúp bạn chinh phục tiêu chí Lexical Resource.

Thay vì bắt đầu mọi câu bằng “I like him because…”, hãy nâng cấp độ lưu loát (Fluency) và đa dạng ngữ pháp (Grammar) bằng các cấu trúc nhấn mạnh sau:

• What I admire most about him/her was… (Điều mà tôi ngưỡng mộ nhất về thầy/cô ấy là…)
• One thing that made him/her stand out was… (Một điều khiến cho thầy/cô ấy thực sự nổi bật là…)
• He/She had a huge impact on me because… (Thầy/cô ấy có ảnh hưởng to lớn đối với tôi bởi vì…)
• I still remember him/her vividly because… (Tôi vẫn nhớ rất rõ ràng về thầy/cô ấy bởi vì…)
• Without his/her encouragement, I probably wouldn’t have… (Nếu không có sự khuyến khích từ thầy/cô, tôi có lẽ đã không…) -> Câu điều kiện loại 3 hỗn hợp siêu ăn điểm.
• He/She was the kind of teacher who always… (Thầy/cô ấy là kiểu giáo viên luôn luôn….)

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 topic teachers

Trong Part 1, hãy đưa ra câu trả lời trực tiếp, giữ thái độ tự nhiên, tích cực và vận dụng khéo léo từ 1-2 cụm từ vựng đã học.

1. Do you want to be a teacher in the future?

“Actually it has been my dream since childhood. I find myself suitable with such positions – the ones that involve working with children, or teaching something useful to people who need it. Just like others, I think this is a meaningful career path to follow.”

2. Do you remember one of your teachers?

“Yes, actually, I remember a lot of high school teachers very clearly, even from my primary school, but the most outstanding one is my English teacher from high school. She was extremely patient and always supportive, especially when we struggled to speak English correctly.”

3. What were your primary school teachers like?

“They were quite strict I have to say, and a bit conservative as I studied at a local school in a rural area. The teachers there were all from previous generations, so their styles were more conventional compared to the ones in bigger cities. Still, I’m grateful for them.”

• Điểm sáng: Cách đối lập giữa quá khứ (conservative, conventional) và hiện tại tạo nên một câu trả lời rất chân thực và có chiều sâu.

4. Do you have a favorite teacher?

“It’s definitely my literature teacher when I was preparing for my most important exam – to enter universities. Even though my major has always been English, he was the teacher that actually helped me achieve a really high score in Literature, which was one of the three subjects I chose for the exam.”

5. How has she/he helped you?

“He was extremely dedicated and always willing to support me in reaching my target score. He even gave me extra lessons for free because he really believed in me. At first, my score was quite low, and I nearly gave up, but he kept encouraging me until I finally succeeded and got into my dream university.”

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2 topic teachers

Đề bài: Describe a teacher from your past that you remember.

You should say:

• What class the teacher taught you and how old you were
• What subject he/she taught
• What the teacher’s special qualities and characteristics were
• And explain why you remember this teacher

Sample Answer:

I’d like to talk about my English teacher in secondary school, whom I still remember very vividly. I was around 11 years old at the time, and she taught my class for nearly two years before she moved to another school, which really upset me at that time.

What made her stand out was not only her pedagogical skills but also her personality. She was extremely patient, approachable, quite strict and passionate about teaching. Unlike most of my teachers I had met previously, who focused mainly on grammar exercises, she encouraged us to communicate in English as much as possible. More importantly, she tried to correct our pronunciation so that our mistakes would not become fossilized. She often organized debates as speaking activities, which forced us to think critically and made the lessons far more engaging.

Another thing I admired about her was her positive attitude. She actually cared about students’ faces (sự tự tôn/thể diện của học sinh). Even when students gave incorrect answers, she never criticized them harshly in front of the class. Instead, she made us feel more confident by encouraging us with praises and a welcoming attitude.

I remember her so clearly because she had a significant impact on my learning journey. She inspired me to improve my English skills and made me realize that language learning could actually be enjoyable. Without her encouragement, I probably wouldn’t have become so interested in English later on.

Phân tích từ vựng đắt giá từ Part 2:

• Pedagogical skills (n): Kỹ năng sư phạm (Từ vựng Academic cực mạnh để thay thế cho “teaching skills”).
• Mistakes become fossilized (phrase): Lỗi sai bị hóa thạch/khó sửa (Thuật ngữ ngôn ngữ học diễn tả việc sai quá lâu thành thói quen, cho thấy trình độ Lexical Resource xuất sắc).
• Care about students’ faces (phrase): Quan tâm đến thể diện của học sinh (Một cách diễn đạt rất thấu cảm và tâm lý).

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3 topic teachers

Phần 3 đòi hỏi bạn phải có cái nhìn vĩ mô hơn về hệ thống giáo dục, sự tiến hóa của phương pháp giảng dạy và tác động của công nghệ.

1. How has teaching changed in your country in the last few decades?

“In fact, it has changed greatly in recent years. In the past, lessons were usually teacher-centered, so students mainly listened and memorized information. Nowadays, educators are becoming more qualified with intense training programs, so classrooms have become more interactive and thought-provoking, with multiple activities and advanced technology.”

• Điểm sáng: Sự đối lập sắc bén giữa teacher-centered (lấy giáo viên làm trung tâm) và interactive / thought-provoking (tương tác / gợi mở tư duy) cho thấy vốn kiến thức xã hội rất tốt.

2. How can a teacher make lessons for children more interesting?

“I think they can bring more joy into class by using games or group activities – which are common ideas but still very effective. Young children usually have short attention spans, so interactive activities can help them stay focused and enjoy learning more.”

3. Do you think computers will one day replace teachers in the classroom?

“No, I don’t think so. Technology can never replace humans in any fields that require gray matter, especially education. We all have to agree that teachers do not just teach, but they also play an important emotional and social role in educating students as well. AI and computers are undoubtedly powerful, but they will never be able to understand and actually sympathize with humans’ feelings.”

• Điểm sáng: Lập luận vô cùng chặt chẽ. Việc sử dụng từ gray matter (chất xám) và nhấn mạnh vào khả năng sympathize (đồng cảm) của giáo viên giúp đánh bật hoàn toàn nguy cơ thay thế của AI.

4. What role should the teacher have in the classroom?

“From my view, teachers should act as both instructors and guides. Besides teaching academic knowledge, they should encourage students, make lessons dynamic, and help students develop critical thinking and communication skills. This means they should never interfere too much with students’ independent thinking but instead support them in developing it on their own.”
