*Sample Answer 1:
Describe a city you have visited – Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam
What the city is called? The city I’d like to describe is Hồ Chí Minh City, which is the largest city in Vietnam and one of the most vibrant urban centers in Southeast Asia.
When you visited or plan to visit it? I visited Hồ Chí Minh City about a year ago, during the Tet holiday, which is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. It was an amazing experience, as the city was full of celebrations, traditional performances, and colorful decorations.
What you did or plan to do there? During my visit, I explored many of the city’s famous landmarks. One of the first places I went to was the War Remnants Museum, where I learned a lot about Vietnam’s history during the Vietnam War. I also visited the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, which is an impressive colonial-era building. The Ben Thanh Market was another highlight, where I bought local souvenirs and tried various delicious Vietnamese street food, like pho and banh mi. I also took a boat ride along the Saigon River and enjoyed the bustling atmosphere around the city’s busy streets. In addition, I spent some time visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels, located a little outside the city, which gave me a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Vietnam War.
Why you like or would like to visit this city? I absolutely love Hồ Chí Minh City because it’s a perfect blend of history, culture, and modernity. The city is full of energy, with busy streets, vibrant markets, and a mix of both old and new architecture. It also has a very welcoming atmosphere, with friendly locals always willing to help. The food scene in Hồ Chí Minh City is also incredible. Whether you’re having a quick meal on the street or dining in a high-end restaurant, you can find amazing dishes that reflect the local culinary traditions. It’s a city that offers something for everyone, from history lovers to foodies to those who just want to experience the fast pace of city life.
Bài mẫu Speaking Part 3 chủ đề City Life
1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a big city?
Advantages: Living in a big city has several advantages. First of all, there are more opportunities for work and education. Big cities tend to have a wider range of job markets, from corporate positions to creative industries, and are home to top universities and research institutions. Additionally, cities usually offer better healthcare and entertainment options, from world-class restaurants to theaters and museums. Public services, such as public transport, are often more efficient and accessible.
Disadvantages: However, living in a big city comes with its drawbacks. One of the main issues is the high cost of living, including expensive housing, transportation, and daily expenses. Traffic congestion is also a significant problem, causing delays and stress for residents. Moreover, the fast-paced lifestyle can lead to a lack of personal time and higher levels of stress. Environmental issues, such as air pollution, are also more prominent in larger cities.
2. How can cities improve their public transportation systems?
Cities can improve their public transportation systems by investing in more efficient and environmentally friendly modes of transport. For example, expanding metro networks and introducing electric buses can help reduce traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions. Another important factor is affordability and accessibility, so governments should ensure that public transport is priced reasonably and available to people in all areas, including the outskirts of the city. Additionally, improving the reliability and frequency of services is crucial to make public transport a more attractive option for commuters.
3. Do you think cities should focus more on green spaces or buildings? Why?
I believe cities should focus on maintaining a balance between green spaces and buildings. Green spaces such as parks, gardens, and urban forests play a crucial role in improving air quality, reducing stress, and providing residents with areas to relax and exercise. At the same time, cities need to continue developing buildings to accommodate growing populations and businesses. However, integrating more green spaces into urban planning, like rooftop gardens or green walls, can help cities preserve nature while accommodating growth. Ultimately, green spaces are vital for people’s well-being and should not be sacrificed in the pursuit of urban development.
4. In your opinion, what is the future of cities?
The future of cities will likely be shaped by technological advancements and the increasing need for sustainability. I envision cities becoming “smart cities,” where technology is used to improve the quality of life for residents. This could include everything from automated traffic systems to more energy-efficient buildings. Sustainability will also play a huge role, with cities focusing on reducing waste, conserving water, and using renewable energy sources. As cities become more connected, they will likely become more inclusive and diverse, with improved access to resources and services for all residents.
5. How do you think the lifestyle in cities will change in the next 20 years?
Over the next 20 years, I think the lifestyle in cities will become even more digital and connected. With the rise of remote work and digital nomadism, people will have more flexibility in their work arrangements, which could reduce the daily need for commuting. Urban areas might become more sustainable, with green building technologies, eco-friendly transport, and efficient waste management becoming the norm. As cities continue to grow, I think we’ll see more focus on creating mixed-use spaces that combine living, working, and recreational areas, making life more convenient and reducing the need for long-distance travel within the city.
