Từ vựng & Cấu trúc hay topic building

Để miêu tả một công trình, bạn cần trang bị từ vựng theo 3 nhóm chính: Loại công trình, tính từ miêu tả và động từ xây dựng.

a. Các loại công trình (Types of buildings)

• High-rise building / Skyscraper (n): Tòa nhà cao tầng / Tòa nhà chọc trời.

• Residential complex (n): Khu phức hợp dân cư (thường là các khu chung cư mới với đầy đủ tiện ích, nơi nhiều gia đình trẻ hiện nay lựa chọn để an cư và ổn định cuộc sống).

• Historical / Heritage building (n): Tòa nhà mang tính lịch sử / di sản.

• Landmark (n): Công trình kiến trúc nổi bật (biểu tượng của một khu vực).

b. Cụm từ miêu tả (Descriptive adjectives & phrases)

• State-of-the-art (adj): Hiện đại nhất, tiên tiến nhất.

• Eye-catching / Visually appealing (adj): Bắt mắt, thu hút ánh nhìn.

• Magnificent / Breathtaking (adj): Tráng lệ, đẹp ngoạn mục.

• Dilapidated / Run-down (adj): Đổ nát, xuống cấp (thường dùng cho nhà cũ).

• Spacious / Roomy (adj): Rộng rãi.

• An architectural masterpiece (n): Một kiệt tác kiến trúc.

• To stand out (v): Nổi bật.

c. Động từ thường dùng (Verbs)

• To construct / erect (v): Xây dựng.

• To demolish / tear down (v): Phá hủy, dỡ bỏ.

• To renovate / refurbish (v): Cải tạo, tân trang lại.

d. Cấu trúc ghi điểm (Useful Structures)

• What strikes me most about this building is… (Điều làm tôi ấn tượng nhất về tòa nhà này là…)

• It boasts a unique design with… (Nó tự hào sở hữu một thiết kế độc đáo với…)

• Compared to modern skyscrapers, traditional buildings are… (So với các tòa nhà chọc trời hiện đại, các tòa nhà truyền thống thì…)

Q1: What types of buildings are there in your city?

Answer: Well, my city has a diverse mix of architecture. In the downtown area, you can easily spot state-of-the-art skyscrapers and commercial centers. However, if you go to the older districts, there are still many heritage buildings and traditional houses that have been preserved for decades.

Q2: Do you prefer old or new buildings?

Answer: Honestly, I lean towards modern buildings. They are usually equipped with cutting-edge facilities, high-speed elevators, and better security systems. Plus, they often feature large glass windows which allow plenty of natural light to come in, making the space feel much more spacious and airy.

Q3: Are there any historical buildings where you live?

Answer: Yes, absolutely. I live in Hanoi, which is renowned for its rich history. There are numerous historical landmarks here, such as the Temple of Literature and old French colonial villas. They are not only popular tourist attractions but also architectural masterpieces.

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2 topic building

Đề bài: Describe an interesting building you have seen. You should say:

• Where it is

• What it looks like

• What it is used for

• And explain why you think it is interesting

Sample Answer: I would like to talk about Landmark 81, which is currently the tallest skyscraper in Vietnam and a true architectural masterpiece. It is situated right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, overlooking the Saigon River.

In terms of its appearance, it is an incredibly eye-catching structure. The design is said to be inspired by a bundle of bamboo, which is a traditional symbol of strength and solidarity in Vietnamese culture. The building is completely covered in glass, making it look especially magnificent at night when the LED lights are turned on.

Regarding its functions, it is a multi-purpose complex. The lower floors are used as a high-end shopping mall with various restaurants, cinemas, and boutiques. The middle section consists of luxury apartments, while the top floors serve as a five-star hotel and an observation deck where visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city.

What makes this building particularly interesting to me is not just its record-breaking height, but what it represents. It stands out as a symbol of Vietnam’s rapid economic growth and modernization. Whenever I see it, I feel a sense of pride. Moreover, standing on the observation deck and looking down at the bustling city below is a truly unforgettable experience.

Part 3 yêu cầu bạn phân tích sâu hơn về tác động của kiến trúc đến con người và xu hướng xây dựng trong tương lai.

Q1: How does building design affect people’s moods?

Answer: I believe architecture has a profound impact on our mental well-being. For example, buildings with high ceilings, open spaces, and plenty of natural light tend to make people feel relaxed and energized. Conversely, living or working in a cramped, dark, and poorly ventilated room can easily lead to stress and a sense of claustrophobia.

Q2: Should the government preserve historical buildings?

Answer: Yes, without a doubt. Historical buildings are tangible links to our past and cultural heritage. They give a city its unique identity and charm. Furthermore, they hold significant educational and tourism value. Even though renovating and maintaining them can cost a fortune, tearing them down to build new commercial centers would mean losing a part of our history forever.

Q3: What will houses be like in the future?

Answer: I imagine that future homes will be heavily integrated with artificial intelligence. We will likely live in “smart homes” where temperature, lighting, and security are automatically controlled by voice commands or mobile apps. Besides, with the growing concern over climate change, I think future buildings will be much more eco-friendly and energy-efficient, utilizing solar panels and green roofs to minimize their carbon footprint.
