Từ vựng & Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Describe intelligent person

Chủ đề People (Con người) luôn là một trong những mảnh đất màu mỡ và xuất hiện thường xuyên nhất trong bài thi IELTS Speaking. Trong đó, Intelligence (Trí thông minh) là một khía cạnh đầy thú vị, đòi hỏi thí sinh không chỉ có vốn từ vựng phong phú mà còn phải thể hiện được chiều sâu tư duy xã hội.

Nhằm giúp các bạn thoát khỏi lối mòn diễn đạt, bài viết dưới đây được biên soạn chi tiết từ tài liệu của cô Lê Trần Thanh Thúy (Giáo viên IELTS 8.0 tại trung tâm ngoại ngữ ECE). Chúng ta sẽ cùng trang bị kho từ vựng chuyên sâu, các cấu trúc giao tiếp tự nhiên và phân tích trọn bộ bài mẫu cho cả 3 phần thi.

Từ vựng và cấu trúc ghi điểm chủ đề Human & Intelligence

Lỗi sai phổ biến nhất của thí sinh khi gặp chủ đề này là lặp lại từ “smart” hoặc “clever” quá nhiều lần. Để chinh phục tiêu chí Lexical Resource, bạn cần phân loại trí thông minh (như trí thông minh logic, trí thông minh cảm xúc) và sử dụng các cụm từ đa dạng dưới đây.

Các cấu trúc giao tiếp tự nhiên (Natural Expressions)

Người bản xứ hiếm khi dùng ngôn ngữ mang tính tuyệt đối. Để câu trả lời mềm mại và tự nhiên hơn (thay vì khẳng định cứng nhắc), các bạn hãy áp dụng các cấu trúc sau:

• Đưa ra quan điểm cá nhân một cách khiêm tốn:

I wouldn’t necessarily say… (Tôi sẽ không hẳn cho rằng…)

From my perspective / Personally speaking,… (Theo góc nhìn cá nhân của tôi,…)

• Tăng tính khách quan cho câu trả lời:

I suppose… (Tôi cho là…)

To some extent… (Ở một chừng mực nào đó…)

It really depends on… (Nó thực sự phụ thuộc vào…)

I don’t think there’s a simple answer. (Tôi không nghĩ có một câu trả lời đơn giản cho việc này.)

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 chủ đề trí tuệ cá nhân

Ở Part 1, hãy cá nhân hóa câu trả lời và sử dụng các cấu trúc giảm nhẹ (hedging) để thể hiện sự khiêm tốn nhưng vẫn khéo léo phô diễn từ vựng.

Question 1: Do you think you are a smart person?

“I wouldn’t say I’m exceptionally intelligent, but I think I’m quite adaptable. Whenever unexpected situations come up, I usually stay calm and find a practical solution. That said, I’ve never been particularly good at mathematics. Back in high school, solving complicated math problems was always a challenge for me.”

Giải thích: Thay vì vội vã nhận mình thông minh, thí sinh nên sử dụng từ adaptable (thích nghi tốt) và đưa ra khuyết điểm (môn Toán) để làm câu trả lời chân thực và cân bằng hơn.

Question 2: Do you like playing strategy games or solving puzzles?

“Yes, I really enjoy playing chess because it keeps my brain active while still being relaxing. Unfortunately, very few of my friends are interested in strategy games, so I rarely get the chance to play with someone in person.”

Question 3: Are you good at memorizing things like phone numbers or names?

“Actually, yes. I’m quite good at remembering names and details from the past. As a teacher, remembering students’ names and learning progress is an important part of my job, so I’ve gradually developed a good memory.”

Question 4: Do you like to hang out with people who are smarter than you?

“Definitely. I always enjoy spending time with people who are more knowledgeable than I am because I can learn a great deal from them. I also appreciate having meaningful conversations that challenge my way of thinking.”

Question 5: How do you feel when you meet someone with high emotional intelligence?

“I genuinely admire people like that. Personally, I sometimes struggle to control my emotions, so I really look up to those who can stay calm and handle difficult situations gracefully. They also create a comfortable atmosphere for everyone around them.”

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2: Miêu tả một người thông minh

Đề bài: Describe an intelligent person you met that impressed you.

You should say:

• Who the person was

• What he or she did

• Why you think he or she is intelligent

• And explain how you feel about him or her

Sample Answer:

One of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met is one of my teachers. Interestingly, what impresses me isn’t her academic knowledge but her emotional intelligence.

She has an incredibly demanding workload and takes on a wide range of responsibilities every day. Despite that, she always remains positive and approachable. Whenever others talk to her, she makes them feel comfortable and respected, even when it’s her students, and they’re making mistakes.

Another quality I admire is her efficiency. She knows how to prioritise her work and solve problems without wasting unnecessary time. Watching her manage multiple tasks calmly has taught me that intelligence isn’t just about getting high scores or knowing lots of facts. It’s also about making good decisions, communicating effectively, and staying composed under pressure.

Having the opportunity to work with her has been incredibly valuable. She inspires me to become not only a better teacher but also a more emotionally mature person. I’d love to learn more about how she manages her time and maintains such a positive mindset despite all the pressure she faces.

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Phân tích chuyên sâu về trí tuệ xã hội

Ở Part 3, chủ đề trí thông minh sẽ được mở rộng ra thành các cuộc tranh luận về giáo dục, di truyền học và các giá trị trong xã hội.

Question 1: Why are some children more intelligent than others?

“I think it’s a combination of nature and nurture. Some children may naturally have stronger cognitive abilities, but the environment they grow up in also plays a huge role. Supportive parents, quality education, and opportunities to explore their interests can significantly help children develop their potential.”

Question 2: Who plays a more important role in a child’s development, teachers or parents?

“Personally, I don’t think one is more important than the other because they contribute in different ways. Teachers mainly provide knowledge and develop academic skills, while parents shape children’s habits, values, and attitudes towards life. Together, they help children develop both intellectually and emotionally.”

Question 3: Are smart people happier than others?

“Not necessarily. I don’t believe intelligence and happiness are directly connected. Happiness depends on many factors, such as relationships, health, and personal expectations. Some highly intelligent people may overthink everything, while others know how to appreciate what they have. Ultimately, happiness is more about mindset than intelligence.”

Question 4: Do you think society needs people with different types of intelligence?

“Absolutely. There’s a reason why we have the theory of multiple intelligences. People excel in different areas. Some are gifted at logical thinking, while others are talented communicators, artists, or leaders. A healthy society needs all of these abilities because different professions require different strengths. Personally, I believe emotional intelligence is one of the most valuable qualities in almost every career.”

Question 5: Do you think smart people are not good at certain things?

“Yes, definitely. Nobody is good at everything. Someone may be brilliant at science but struggle with communication or teamwork. Likewise, a talented artist may not enjoy solving mathematical problems. That’s exactly why people complement one another, and why different kinds of intelligence are equally valuable.”
