Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Extreme Weather

Part 1 yêu cầu câu trả lời tự nhiên, độ dài khoảng 2 đến 4 câu. Công thức tối ưu là trả lời trực diện, nêu lý do, và bổ sung một ví dụ thực tế.

Question 1: What is the weather like in your hometown?

“I live in the north of Vietnam, where the weather is quite extreme at both ends of the year. Summers are scorching and humid, and temperatures can climb above 38 degrees. Winters are the opposite, with chilly drizzle that can last for weeks. Spring and autumn are my favourite seasons, but they always feel far too short.”

Question 2: Have you ever experienced extreme weather?

“Oh, definitely. Just in this July, a severe heatwave hit my city, and the temperature stayed above 38 degrees Celcius for nearly a week. What’s worse? The power grid was overloaded, so we had frequent blackouts. It was exhausting, and I barely left the house in the afternoons.”

Question 3: Does the weather affect your mood?

“Definitely. On gloomy, rainy days I tend to feel sluggish and unmotivated. When the sun is out, I am much more energetic, and I enjoy meeting friends. I guess I’m quite sensitive to the weather.”

Question 4: Do you check the weather forecast regularly?

“Yes, almost every morning. I use the Weather app on my iPhone, mainly to decide what to wear and whether to take a raincoat. During typhoon season I check it far more often, since a sudden storm can disrupt my whole day.”

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2

Đề bài (Cue Card): Describe a natural disaster that you experienced or heard about. You should say:

  • what it was

  • when and where it happened

  • what the effects were

  • and explain how you felt about it.

Sample Answer:

I’d like to talk about Typhoon Yagi, which hit northern Vietnam in September 2024. It was one of the strongest storms to strike the region in decades, and I experienced it first-hand in my hometown.

For days beforehand, the news was full of warnings from our national broadcast, so my family stocked up on food, water and candles. We also taped the windows and cleared everything off the balcony. On the day itself, the wind became so ferocious that the whole building seemed to shake. I could hear trees snapping and roof tiles flying through the air. By the evening, the power was out, and we spent hours listening to the howling wind in the dark. To make things worse, the ceiling of my house was leaking, and we had to wipe up the water for hours since we sell wooden furniture. It was terrifying and exhausting. To be honest, I’ve never been through a storm like that in my whole life.

However, what I remember most is the solidarity afterwards. Neighbours cleared the streets together, and people from all over the country donated food, clothes and money to the affected areas. There were tears and fear, yet somehow, that was also when we realized that we, Vietnamese people, are always united, just like we have always been for thousands of years. Now looking back, I believe the Yagi tropical storm was a powerful reminder that nature can be unpredictable, but people can come together in times of crisis.

💡 Điểm Sáng Chiến Thuật Từ Thầy Quang Sơn: Bài kể chuyện sử dụng chuỗi hành động rất chân thực (stocked up on food, taped the windows, wipe up the water). Đặc biệt, đoạn kết không chỉ dừng lại ở sự sợ hãi mà mở rộng ra giá trị nhân văn (solidarity, come together in times of crisis), giúp phần giải thích cảm xúc (explain how you felt) trở nên sâu sắc và trưởng thành hơn rất nhiều.

Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3 – Climate Change & Prevention

Part 3 là cơ hội để bứt phá lên Band 7+. Giám khảo mong đợi bạn đưa ra quan điểm vĩ mô, giải thích nguyên nhân, so sánh và dự đoán các xu hướng.

Question 1: Do you think natural disasters are becoming more frequent?

“I would say so, yes, at least when it comes to weather-related disasters. Scientists generally agree that global warming is making extreme weather more intense and, in some regions, more frequent. Warmer oceans fuel stronger typhoons, and longer droughts leave forests dry and prone to wildfires. Having said that, I think the media sometimes exaggerates the trend. Storms and droughts may well be on the rise, but the way they dominate the headlines makes the situation feel more dramatic than it really is.”

Question 2: What can individuals do to help reduce climate change?

“Individually, our impact may seem small, but it adds up. People can cut their carbon footprint by using public transport, cycling for short trips and saving electricity at home. Reducing single-use plastic and wasting less food are also some of simple activities we can do. In my experience, small habits spread. When one family in a neighbourhood starts sorting its waste, others often follow. I believe this kind of grassroots momentum puts pressure on companies and governments to act.”

Question 3: How should governments prepare for natural disasters?

“I think prevention is the key. Governments should invest in early warning systems and resilient infrastructure, such as stronger dikes and better drainage in cities. Equally important is public education, so that people know where to go and what to do when an alert is issued. Vietnam has made progress in this area through several educational campaigns, but there is still room for improvement, especially in remote mountain areas where communication is limited.”

Question 4: Why do some countries suffer more from natural disasters than others?

“Mainly because of differences in wealth and infrastructure, I’d say. Wealthier countries can afford advanced forecasting, more sustainable buildings and efficient rescue services. Poorer nations often lack these resources, so the same earthquake or flood causes far more casualties. Geography is also a major reason too. Low-lying countries and small island states are especially exposed to rising sea levels, regardless of how much they contribute to global emissions or investments in preventing such disasters.”
