Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 1 chủ đề Creativity & Art
Question 1: Would you describe yourself as a creative person?
Sample: I would like to think so, although my creativity shows up in fairly ordinary ways rather than anything artistic in a formal sense. I do not paint or play an instrument, but I enjoy finding unconventional solutions to everyday problems, and I like rearranging my room or experimenting with new recipes just to see what works. For me, creativity is less about producing a masterpiece and more about approaching things with a slightly different mindset than usual.
Question 2: What kind of creative activities do you enjoy?
Sample: I am particularly drawn to photography and, more recently, short-form video editing. I like the fact that both activities let you take something fairly mundane, such as a busy street or a quiet afternoon, and present it in a way that conveys a mood or a story. I also dabble in doodling when I am on the phone or in a long meeting; it is not skillful by any means, but it keeps my mind engaged and often helps me think more clearly afterwards.
Question 3: Did you do anything creative when you were a child?
Sample: Definitely. I remember spending hours building elaborate structures out of cardboard boxes and old newspapers, pretending they were castles or spaceships. My parents were remarkably patient about the mess this created around the house. Looking back, I think that kind of unstructured play was actually where I first learned to think outside the box, since there were no instructions to follow and I simply had to improvise with whatever materials were on hand.
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2
Đề bài: Describe a creative person whose work you admire.
You should say:
-
Who this person is
-
How you know them
-
What creative things they do
-
And explain why you think they are creative.
Sample Answer (Band 8.5+):
I would like to talk about my cousin Linh, who works as an illustrator and has always struck me as one of the most genuinely creative people I know.
I have known Linh my whole life, since we grew up in the same neighbourhood and spent a lot of our childhood together, but I only really got to see her creative side in full once she started university and chose to study fine arts, much to the surprise of some relatives who had expected her to pursue something more conventional. From there, she gradually built a career as a freelance illustrator, working on everything from children’s book covers to branding for small local businesses.
What makes Linh stand out is not simply that she can draw well, but the way she approaches every project with a genuinely unconventional angle. A few years ago, a local café asked her to design their menu, and instead of the usual food photography, she created a set of playful, hand-drawn characters representing each dish, which ended up becoming something of a talking point among customers. She often tells me that the hardest part of her job is not the technical skill but pushing past a creative block when inspiration simply refuses to come, and she has developed her own rituals, such as taking long walks without her phone, to work through it.
I think what I admire most about her is her willingness to experiment with different mediums rather than staying within her comfort zone. She has moved between digital illustration, watercolour, and even short stop-motion animation, treating every failed attempt as a process of trial and error rather than as a setback. She once told me that she would rather produce something imperfect but original than something polished but derivative.
Spending time with Linh has genuinely changed the way I see creativity. I used to assume it was a fixed talent that people either had or lacked, but watching her work has shown me that it is closely tied to curiosity, discipline, and a willingness to keep experimenting even when the outcome is uncertain.
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3 – Tư duy về sự sáng tạo
Question 1: Why are some people more creative than others?
Sample: I think it comes down to a combination of natural disposition and environment. Some people are simply more comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy exploring ideas without knowing exactly where they will lead, which gives them an advantage when it comes to creative thinking. That said, environment plays an enormous role too. People who were encouraged to experiment and make mistakes as children, rather than being pushed towards a single correct answer, often develop stronger creative instincts as adults. So while there may be some innate component, I would argue that creativity is largely a skill that can be cultivated through practice and the right kind of encouragement.
-
Điểm sáng lập luận: Kết hợp hài hòa giữa yếu tố bẩm sinh (natural disposition/innate component) và môi trường giáo dục (environment/encouragement).
Question 2: Do you think schools do enough to nurture students’ creativity?
Sample: Honestly, I do not think most schools do enough, at least not in the education systems I am familiar with. The emphasis tends to fall heavily on memorisation and standardised testing, which rewards students for arriving at a single correct answer rather than for exploring multiple possibilities. Subjects like art and music are frequently treated as secondary to core academic subjects and are often the first to be cut when budgets are tight. I think this is a missed opportunity, because creative thinking is valuable well beyond the arts; it supports problem-solving in science, business, and virtually every other field.
-
Question 3: Is creativity equally important in all jobs?
Sample: I would say the degree of importance varies, but almost no job is entirely free of creativity. Obviously, fields like design, advertising, and the arts rely on it directly, since the whole point of the work is to produce something original. But even in more procedural roles, such as accounting or logistics, people who can think creatively tend to find more efficient ways of solving problems or adapting when something unexpected occurs. So while some careers demand artistic flair as a core requirement, I think a baseline level of creative thinking benefits almost every profession.
Question 4: How has technology changed the way people create art?
Sample: Technology has transformed the creative process quite dramatically. On one hand, digital tools have made art far more accessible; someone with a tablet and the right software can now produce work that once required expensive equipment and years of specialised training. It has also allowed artists to cater to a niche audience directly online without needing a gallery or publisher as an intermediary. On the other hand, some critics argue that the ease of digital production has diluted craftsmanship, since it is now possible to rely heavily on templates or filters rather than building skills from scratch. Personally, I think technology is simply a tool, and the quality of the outcome still depends on the artistic vision and effort of the person using it.
