Do you like art?
I wouldn’t consider myself an expert in art, but I genuinely enjoy engaging with different forms of visual art, such as paintings and creative designs. Whenever I visit an art exhibition or even see artwork online, I feel a sense of relaxation and inspiration. For me, art is not just about technical skills; it is more about the emotions and messages that artists try to convey through their work.
Did you enjoy learning art at school?
Yes, I did enjoy art classes at school, mainly because they gave me an opportunity to express my creativity freely. Unlike academic subjects, art did not have strict right or wrong answers, which made the learning experience more enjoyable. Although I wasn’t particularly talented, those lessons helped me develop imagination and appreciate creative efforts.
Do you often visit art galleries or exhibitions?
To be honest, I don’t visit art galleries on a regular basis, mainly because of my busy schedule. However, whenever I do have the opportunity to visit one, I usually find the experience both inspiring and eye-opening. Being surrounded by various forms of artistic expression allows me to slow down and observe the world from a different perspective.
What I particularly enjoy about art exhibitions is the atmosphere. The quiet environment and the visual impact of the artworks create a sense of calm and reflection. Even a short visit can leave a lasting impression on me and make me think more deeply about creativity and self-expression.
Is art important in your life?
Art does not play a dominant role in my daily life, but I would still say it is quite important to me in a subtle way. Art influences my emotions, thoughts and even my mood, especially during stressful periods. Whether it is music, paintings or films, artistic works help me relax and reconnect with myself.
Moreover, art helps me see beauty in ordinary things and appreciate different perspectives. In the long run, I believe this contributes to personal growth and emotional balance. For these reasons, art may not be essential for survival, but it certainly enriches my life.
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking part 2 topic art
Describe a piece of art you like.
You should say:
- what it is
- where you saw it
- what it looks like
- and explain why you like it
Sample answer:
I’d like to describe a painting that I encountered during a visit to an art gallery a few years ago. It was a landscape painting portraying a quiet rural scene, with wide open fields, a small river running through the centre, and a soft, muted colour palette.
What stood out to me immediately was the way the artist used light and colour to create a calm and almost timeless atmosphere. Instead of using bright or striking colours, the painting relied on subtle shades and gentle contrasts, which made the scene feel incredibly peaceful and harmonious.
What I found most appealing about this artwork was not just its visual beauty, but the emotions it evoked. Whenever I looked at it, I felt a strong sense of calm, as if I had momentarily escaped from the fast-paced and stressful nature of urban life. In a way, the painting reminded me of the importance of slowing down and appreciating simple, ordinary moments.
Although it wasn’t a famous masterpiece by a well-known artist, it had great personal meaning for me. I believe that truly powerful art doesn’t have to be complicated or widely recognised; sometimes, it simply needs to connect with the viewer on an emotional level, and this painting did exactly that.
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking part 3 topic art
Why do you think art is important in modern society?
In my opinion, art plays a crucial role in modern society because it serves as a powerful means of communication. Through various forms of art, people are able to express complex emotions, personal experiences and social concerns that may be difficult to articulate through words alone. Art also reflects cultural identity and historical values, helping societies preserve their heritage while adapting to change.
Furthermore, art encourages creativity and critical thinking. In an increasingly technology-driven world, these skills are becoming more essential than ever. Exposure to art can inspire people to think differently, question existing norms and develop more innovative solutions to real-life problems.
Do you think art should be given more importance in education?
Yes, I strongly believe that art should be given greater importance in education systems. While academic subjects such as maths and science are undoubtedly important, art helps students develop imagination, emotional intelligence and self-expression, which are often overlooked in traditional classrooms.
In addition, learning art can have a positive impact on students’ mental well-being. It provides a creative outlet that allows young people to relieve stress and express their feelings in a healthy way. From a long-term perspective, an education system that values art is more likely to produce well-rounded individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also emotionally aware and socially responsible.
How does art influence the way people think?
Art has a significant influence on the way people think because it encourages them to see the world from different perspectives. By exposing individuals to new ideas and interpretations, art challenges conventional thinking and promotes open-mindedness. This is particularly important in modern society, where diversity of thought is highly valued.
Furthermore, art often raises awareness of social issues such as inequality or environmental problems. When people engage with these artistic messages, they may become more empathetic and socially responsible. As a result, art not only shapes individual thinking but also contributes to positive social change.
