What is the SAT testing fee in Vietnam?

For those registering for the SAT in the U.S., the fee is $68 as of August 23, 2025. In Vietnam and other countries outside the U.S., an additional $43 international fee applies, bringing the total to $111. ECE English Center has summarized other SAT-related fees in the table below. Change Test Center $34 Applies only to changing the test center. (To change the test date, you must cancel and register for a new test.)
Cancel Registration $34 This is the fee for canceling before the deadline (see the table above). Free if you are eligible for a fee waiver.
Late Cancellation Fee $44 Canceling after the change deadline and before 11:59 PM (ET) on the Thursday before the test date (as the SAT is held on Saturdays).

Free if you are eligible for a fee waiver.

Late Registration $38 This fee applies if you register after the regular deadline but before the late registration deadline. Free if you are eligible for a fee waiver.
Additional Score Reports $15 per report Sending scores to 4 universities is free if requested within 9 days of the test date. After that, each additional score report costs $15.
Rush Reporting $31 Additional reporting fees may apply.
Phone Score Reporting $15 You can call the College Board directly to request that your SAT scores be sent to universities or organizations. Note that you must still pay the standard score report fee ($14 per report) in addition to the phone service fee.
Archived Score Reports $35 If you have been out of high school for more than a year, the College Board archives your SAT scores.

You can still request these older scores for yourself or for colleges, universities, and scholarship programs.

How to register for the SAT in Vietnam

To register for the SAT in Vietnam, follow these steps:

1. Create a College Board account

  • Visit the official College Board website: collegeboard.org.
  • Click “Sign Up” to create an account if you don’t have one; you can access it here. You will need to provide personal information such as your name, email address, date of birth, nationality, and parent/guardian information.

2. Select your SAT test

  • After logging in, select “SAT” from the menu and click “Register Now.”
  • Choose your preferred test date and the nearest test center in Vietnam. There are many test centers in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. You can search for centers here: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/test-center-search

3. Provide personal information

  • You will need to fill in your personal details, including your name, address, country, and current school.
  • Ensure this information matches the identification document you will use on test day.

When registering, the College Board requires you to upload a photo for identification. This photo will appear on your Admission Ticket and will be checked on test day. Here are the specific requirements for your SAT photo:

1. Size and Format

  • File format: JPG, GIF, or PNG.
  • File size: Must not exceed 2 MB.
  • Dimensions: The photo must be clear enough to identify your face.

2. Image Requirements

  • Head-on shot: The photo must be a direct, front-facing view of your face, with no tilting or rotation.
  • Quality: The photo must be clear, not blurry or dark.
  • Background: Use a plain background, preferably white or light-colored, to make your face easily recognizable.
  • Lighting: Ensure even lighting so there are no shadows on your face.

3. Face and Attire

  • Clear face: No sunglasses, hats, or accessories that obscure your face. Prescription glasses are allowed but should not have reflections that hide your eyes.
  • Expression: Do not smile broadly; your expression should be neutral and natural.
  • Hair: Hair must not cover your face.

4. Age and Recency

  • The photo must be recent, taken within the last 6 months, to accurately reflect your current appearance.
  • The photo must not be edited or altered using photo editing software.

5. Prohibited:

  • Group photos or photos with other people.
  • Photos containing other objects.
  • Photos cropped from existing images that are not clear.

If your photo does not meet these requirements, you may be denied entry to the test center. Please ensure you follow all College Board guidelines.

4. Select additional services

  • You can choose to send score reports for free to 4 universities or organizations.
  • If you need additional services like rush reporting, you can select them during this process. Refer to the fee table earlier in this article for costs.

5. Pay the fees

  • The basic SAT fee is $68.
  • You can pay online using an international credit or debit card.
  • If you are testing in Vietnam, an international registration fee of $43 applies.

You will have 20 minutes to review your information and upload your photo before the system redirects you to the payment screen.

6. Receive registration confirmation

  • Once registration and payment are complete, you will receive a confirmation email from the College Board. This email will include your test date, test center, and detailed instructions on what to bring on test day.

7. Prepare for test day

  • You must print your Admission Ticket from your College Board account to bring with you, along with a valid ID (such as a current passport or national ID card). It is recommended to arrive 30 minutes before 8:00 AM on Saturday to ensure you have all necessary documents and supplies.

For test supplies, you need to bring 2B pencils for bubbling in your answers and a calculator for the Math section. Ensure you use a calculator model that is approved by the College Board.

Notes:

  • The SAT registration deadline is usually about 2 weeks before the test date, so register early to secure your spot.
  • If you register late, you will have to pay an additional late registration fee.
