IELTS Speaking Part 1 Sample: Environment & Nature
Question 1: Is there much pollution where you live?
Sample: Unfortunately, yes. Air pollution is a major problem where I live, especially in Hanoi, which is frequently listed among the most polluted cities in the world during certain times of the year. I believe the main cause is the enormous number of private vehicles on the roads, along with emissions from factories and construction sites. As a result, the air quality often reaches unhealthy levels, particularly during the winter months.
Question 2: Do you take an interest in nature?
Sample: Definitely. I really enjoy spending time in nature because it helps me relax and escape the stress of city life. Whenever I have the opportunity to travel, I prefer visiting untouched natural landscapes rather than crowded tourist attractions. I find pristine forests, mountains and beaches incredibly peaceful. I believe nature is one of the greatest gifts to humanity, so it’s our responsibility to protect it.
Question 3: Are residents in your town good at recycling waste?
Sample: To be honest, I don’t think recycling is very common where I live. Although environmental awareness has improved in recent years, many people still don’t sort their household waste properly. Since Hanoi is home to people from all over Vietnam, many residents are more focused on earning a living than developing eco-friendly habits. Unfortunately, behaviours like littering and dumping rubbish into rivers or lakes can still be seen.
IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample
Topic: Describe a person who helps protect the environment.
You should say:
-
Who this person is
-
How this person protects the environment
-
What difficulty this person has faced
-
And explain how you feel about this person
Sample Answer
I’d like to talk about Den Vau, who is one of the most popular rappers and singer-songwriters in Vietnam. Besides being well known for his music, he has also made a significant contribution to raising environmental awareness.
Instead of simply talking about environmental protection in interviews, he incorporates meaningful messages into his songs and music videos. Many of his songs have gone viral on social media, allowing these messages to reach millions of people. Through his lyrics, he encourages listeners to appreciate nature, live more sustainably and take better care of the environment.
Producing high-quality music videos with environmental themes requires a considerable amount of money, so he has faced financial challenges throughout his career. However, thanks to the strong support of his fans, sponsorships and advertising partnerships, he has been able to continue producing meaningful content.
I really admire him because he uses his influence in a positive way rather than simply focusing on entertainment. He has inspired many young people, including myself, to become more environmentally conscious. If I ever had the opportunity, I would love to meet him in person and thank him for his positive contribution to society.
IELTS Speaking Part 3 Sample – Public Environmental Awareness
Part 3 requires the ability to discuss and analyze issues from an objective, macro perspective.
Question 1: Why should we protect the environment?
Sample: There are many reasons, but the most obvious one is that the environment is essential for human survival. We depend on clean air, fresh water and natural resources in our daily lives. If we continue to damage the environment, our quality of life will decline, and future generations will face even greater challenges. Protecting the environment is therefore an investment in our own future.
Question 2: Who is responsible for protecting the environment?
Sample: I believe everyone shares this responsibility. Governments should introduce stricter environmental policies, businesses should adopt more sustainable practices, and individuals should make environmentally friendly choices in their daily lives. Even small actions, such as reducing plastic use or recycling, can make a significant difference when millions of people do them together.
Question 3: Is it true that young people are more aware of environmental protection than older people?
Sample: Generally speaking, I would say yes. Young people are exposed to environmental education from an early age and frequently encounter environmental campaigns on social media. As a result, many of them have developed eco-friendly habits, such as carrying reusable bottles or reducing plastic waste. However, this doesn’t mean older generations don’t care; many of them also make valuable contributions based on their own experiences.
Question 4: What do you think is the biggest environmental problem facing the world today?
Sample: In my opinion, climate change is the greatest environmental challenge because it affects almost every aspect of our lives. Rising global temperatures have led to more frequent natural disasters, rising sea levels and extreme weather events. One major cause is deforestation, as forests absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. When trees are cut down on a large scale, the balance of the ecosystem is seriously disrupted.
Question 5: In what ways do people damage the environment?
Sample: Human activities affect the environment in countless ways. For example, people burn fossil fuels, cut down forests, overuse plastic products and waste electricity and water. Even seemingly small everyday actions, such as leaving lights on unnecessarily or using excessive digital resources, consume energy and contribute indirectly to carbon emissions. Although each individual action may seem insignificant, their combined impact on the planet is enormous.
The environment topic is always a great opportunity to demonstrate academic thinking and a rich vocabulary. Mastering the collocations as Ms. Thanh Thuy has guided above will help you think faster and speak much more fluently. We wish you the best of luck with your studies and hope you reach your goals with ECE Language Center!
