IELTS Speaking Part 1 Sample Answers – Good Views

In Part 1, answers don’t need to be overly long but should be extended with a reason, a brief description, or specific details.

Question 1: What can you see from the windows where you live?

Sample: I live in a house facing a busy street, so from my windows, I mostly see all kinds of vehicles passing by. If I cast my gaze across the street, I can see a row of detached houses being built, which is honestly quite an unpleasant sight. The site used to be an expo featuring a spectacular musical fountain, so the view was far more attractive in the past.

Question 2: What is the best view you have ever enjoyed?

Sample: It was the view of a towering mountain cliff along a pass in Ha Giang. The majestic scenery was so incredible that my family had to pull over and spend a while taking it all in. The cliff was extremely high—so high that its peak disappeared into the clouds. One side was bare limestone, which looked almost silver in the mist, while the other was blanketed in trees, creating a striking contrast.

Question 3: Do you usually take photos of beautiful views?

Sample: It depends. Sometimes, I want to capture breathtaking natural landscapes so that I’ll have something to look back on years later. At other times, though, I prefer to put my phone away, fully immerse myself in the moment, and simply soak it all in.

Question 4: Do you normally book hotel rooms with good views?

Sample: Not really; that is not one of my main priorities when I book a hotel room. That said, it’s always a lovely bonus to wake up in a new place and look out over a long stretch of beach or layers of mountains fading into the distance.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer & Idea Development Strategy

Prompt: Describe a place you visited that has beautiful views.

You should say:

Sample Answer:

I’ve been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful landscapes around my country, but the place that impressed me the most was the cluster of islands off the coast of Nha Trang.

It has been nearly ten years since I went there, but vivid images of the trip still linger in my mind. I visited during a summer holiday, mainly to explore the islands and enjoy the coastal scenery. What made the experience particularly special was that, instead of simply taking a casual stroll along the beach, I joined a speedboat tour around the islands.

At one point, we were completely surrounded by open water, and the experience gave me a strange sense of perspective. I suddenly realised how small I was compared with nature. All the concerns of daily life seemed to shrink into insignificance, leaving only me and the vast, breathtaking scenery around me.

When I looked down, I saw the clearest seawater I had ever seen. In fact, it was the first time I had experienced “crystal-clear water” in real life—a phrase I had encountered countless times in English textbooks. The water was so clear that I could even see colourful coral reefs beneath the surface.

Since it was a bright summer day, the sunlight reflected off the surface of the sea, making the water shimmer like silver. It was genuinely mesmerising. Even now, I consider it a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I would love to return to Nha Trang and see that view again.
