In Part 1, aim for a natural tone, highlighting the convenience and your daily habits.

Q1: How often do you use the Internet? “I use the Internet on a daily basis. It has become an integral part of my routine, as I rely on it for studying, working, and entertainment. I usually browse the web in the morning and spend some time on social networking sites in the evening to relax.”

Q2: What do you usually do online? “I mainly use the Internet to access information and improve my skills through various online platforms. Besides that, I watch educational videos and occasionally shop online. Thanks to high-speed Internet, everything can be done quickly and conveniently.”

Q3: Do you think you use the Internet too much? “To be honest, I think my screen time is sometimes excessive. Although it helps me stay connected with friends and keep up with global connectivity, spending too much time online may lead to Internet addiction.”

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample: Describe a website or app

Prompt: Describe a website or app you often use. You should say:

• What it is

• How you found out about it

• What you use it for

• And explain why you like it.

Sample Answer:

The website I’d like to talk about is YouTube, which I have been using for many years. I first discovered it through my friends, who recommended it as a useful learning tool.

I mainly use this platform to watch educational content and access information from reliable sources of information. It provides a wide range of videos, from academic lectures to entertainment programs. Thanks to modern digital devices and high-speed Internet, I can easily watch videos anytime and anywhere.

What I appreciate most is that it promotes instant communication, as viewers can interact through comments and live chats. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in supporting online learning, especially during the pandemic.

However, one major drawback is the presence of misleading information, which sometimes spreads quickly due to rapid technological advancements. Overall, despite a few disadvantages, I believe it is an extremely valuable platform.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 Sample: The Impact of the Internet

This section requires you to evaluate the Internet on a societal level. Use a balanced approach (weighing pros against cons) to demonstrate critical thinking.

Q1: How has the Internet changed the way people communicate? “The Internet has completely transformed communication. Thanks to instant communication, people can send messages and make video calls instantly. This has strengthened global connectivity and allowed individuals to stay connected regardless of geographical distance.”

Q2: What are the disadvantages of the Internet? “Although the Internet offers numerous benefits, it also poses certain risks. For example, cybersecurity threats and concerns about data privacy are becoming increasingly serious. Another issue is the spread of misleading information, which can negatively influence public opinion.”

Q3: Do you think the Internet will become more important in the future? “There is no doubt that the Internet will continue to grow in importance. With rapid technological advancements, more services such as remote working and online learning will become common. It plays a crucial role in modern society, and people will rely even more heavily on digital devices in the future.”

When discussing the Internet, the formula for a high score is balance. Whenever you highlight the convenience of the Internet (global connectivity, remote working), remember to mention its drawbacks (cybersecurity threats, screen time). Using academic vocabulary in this balanced way will show the examiner your logical thinking and extensive range of vocabulary.
